How to Start Your Lyft Insurance Claim with Executive Auto Body
- File your claim with Lyft Insurance. You can do this online, through their app, or by calling their claims line.
- Get your claim number. Write it down, you'll need it.
- Bring your vehicle (or send photos) to us. Submit a free virtual estimate or stop by, 118 W Nugent St., Lancaster, CA.
- We handle the rest. Adjuster coordination, parts authorization, supplements, rental coordination, billing. You don't have to do any of it.
About Lyft Insurance and Your Repair
Lyft provides commercial liability and contingent coverage to its drivers through third-party insurers (currently Progressive and others). Which coverage applies depends on which "period" you were in at the time of the accident:
- App off: your personal auto insurance handles it.
- App on, no ride accepted: Lyft's contingent liability; your personal policy is primary.
- En route to pickup or with a passenger: Lyft's $1M commercial coverage is primary.
We process all three. Bring us your Lyft claim number and we'll handle the carrier coordination. See our rideshare repair page for the full breakdown.
You Always Have the Right to Choose Your Body Shop
California Insurance Code §758.5 makes it illegal for an insurance company to require you to use a specific shop. Lyft Insurance can recommend, but they can't require. You have the legal right to bring your repair to Executive Auto Body & Paint, and we strongly recommend you do.
Why? Because we work for you, not the insurance company. When the carrier wants to use cheaper aftermarket parts on safety components, we push back. When the initial estimate underscopes the damage, we document and supplement. When the insurer wants to rush a paint job, we say no.
What If My Repair Costs More Than the Initial Estimate?
Initial insurance estimates are usually written from a quick photo review and rarely capture the full damage. After we tear down your vehicle, we almost always find additional damage that wasn't visible in the original estimate. That's normal, it's called a supplement.
We document the additional damage with photos and submit the supplement to Lyft Insurance. They review and authorize. You don't pay more out of pocket as long as the additional damage is covered by your policy (which it almost always is, since it's part of the same accident).
