Every Day Off the Road Costs You Money
If you drive for Uber or Lyft, your vehicle is your business. We get that. We prioritize rideshare driver repairs and rush parts ordering wherever possible to minimize the days you spend off the platform.
How Rideshare Insurance Claims Work
It depends which period you were in at the time of the accident:
- App off (Period 0). Your personal auto insurance handles it as a regular accident.
- App on, no ride requested yet (Period 1). Uber/Lyft provides contingent liability coverage. Your personal policy (with TNC endorsement) is primary.
- En route to a pickup or with a passenger (Periods 2-3). Uber/Lyft\'s commercial insurance is primary, typically $1M of coverage.
Whatever your situation, we work with whichever carrier is responsible. Bring us your claim number and we\'ll handle the rest.
What If the Other Driver Was at Fault?
If another driver caused the accident, their insurance pays for your repair through their property damage liability. We file the claim with their carrier and bill them directly. You may be responsible for a deductible only if you go through your own insurance for faster repair while the third-party claim is processed.
Common Rideshare Driver Repairs
- Rear-end collisions. The most common type of accident for rideshare drivers because of stop-and-go pickups in busy traffic.
- Parking lot damage. From dropping passengers in tight parking lots and getting hit by other drivers.
- Passenger door damage. Passengers hitting the door against curbs, posts, or other cars when getting out.
- Bumper repair. Frequent low-speed contact in heavy traffic.
