About Sedgwick and Your Repair

Sedgwick is not a traditional insurance carrier, it's a Third-Party Administrator (TPA). Sedgwick handles claims on behalf of self-insured employers, government agencies, large fleets, and rideshare/transportation network companies. If you've been in an accident involving one of these (a rental car company, a delivery vehicle, a fleet truck), the claim may route through Sedgwick.

The Sedgwick claim process is similar to a standard insurance claim, the difference is the money comes from the underlying employer or fleet's self-insurance fund rather than a carrier. We have experience working with Sedgwick adjusters and process their claims the same way we'd process any standard carrier claim.

You Always Have the Right to Choose Your Body Shop

California Insurance Code §758.5 makes it illegal for an insurance company to require you to use a specific shop. Sedgwick can recommend, but they can't require. You have the legal right to bring your repair to Executive Auto Body & Paint, and we strongly recommend you do.

Why? Because we work for you, not the insurance company. When the carrier wants to use cheaper aftermarket parts on safety components, we push back. When the initial estimate underscopes the damage, we document and supplement. When the insurer wants to rush a paint job, we say no.

What If My Repair Costs More Than the Initial Estimate?

Initial insurance estimates are usually written from a quick photo review and rarely capture the full damage. After we tear down your vehicle, we almost always find additional damage that wasn't visible in the original estimate. That's normal, it's called a supplement.

We document the additional damage with photos and submit the supplement to Sedgwick. They review and authorize. You don't pay more out of pocket as long as the additional damage is covered by your policy (which it almost always is, since it's part of the same accident).

FAQs

Sedgwick Claim FAQs

What is Sedgwick and how is it different from a regular insurance company?
Sedgwick is a Third-Party Administrator (TPA) that handles claims for self-insured employers and fleets. The claim process is similar to insurance; the payor is the underlying employer or fleet rather than a traditional carrier.
Do I have to use the body shop Sedgwick recommends?
No. California Insurance Code §758.5 makes it illegal for an insurance company to require you to use a specific shop. You have the right to choose any licensed body shop, including Executive Auto Body & Paint.
How do I start a claim with Sedgwick and use Executive Auto Body?
1. File your claim with Sedgwick (online, by phone, or through their app). 2. Get a claim number. 3. Bring the claim number to us, or call us and we'll handle the rest. We coordinate directly with the adjuster and provide all documentation.
Will I have to pay anything out of pocket?
You'll be responsible for your deductible (typically $250–$1,000 depending on your policy). Once that's paid, we bill the carrier directly for the rest of the repair.
Can I get a rental car while my vehicle is being repaired?
Yes. If your policy includes rental coverage, we coordinate with the carrier and arrange an on-site rental, you drop off and drive away. If not, we have affordable rental options on the lot.
