About Tesla Insurance and Your Repair

Tesla Insurance Services is Tesla's own auto insurance offering, available in California (and an expanding list of states) for Tesla vehicle owners. Premiums are calculated using real-time driving data from the vehicle's Autopilot computer.

For repairs, Tesla Insurance generally authorizes OEM Tesla parts on structural and safety components, which is what we recommend anyway. Tesla collision repair requires specific tooling for aluminum bodywork and high-voltage battery procedures, both of which we handle. We perform Autopilot camera recalibration as part of every applicable repair.

You Always Have the Right to Choose Your Body Shop

California Insurance Code §758.5 makes it illegal for an insurance company to require you to use a specific shop. Tesla Insurance can recommend, but they can't require. You have the legal right to bring your repair to Executive Auto Body & Paint, and we strongly recommend you do.

Why? Because we work for you, not the insurance company. When the carrier wants to use cheaper aftermarket parts on safety components, we push back. When the initial estimate underscopes the damage, we document and supplement. When the insurer wants to rush a paint job, we say no.

What If My Repair Costs More Than the Initial Estimate?

Initial insurance estimates are usually written from a quick photo review and rarely capture the full damage. After we tear down your vehicle, we almost always find additional damage that wasn't visible in the original estimate. That's normal, it's called a supplement.

We document the additional damage with photos and submit the supplement to Tesla Insurance. They review and authorize. You don't pay more out of pocket as long as the additional damage is covered by your policy (which it almost always is, since it's part of the same accident).
