Land Rover: Off-Road Capability, Body Shop Reality
Land Rover's Defender and Discovery lineup are engineered for actual off-road use. Trail damage and parking-lot damage happen to the same vehicles, sometimes in the same week. We repair both with the same attention to detail.
Note: Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar, and Range Rover Evoque are technically a separate Range Rover sub-brand within the Jaguar Land Rover lineup. See our dedicated Range Rover page →
Land Rover Aluminum Construction
The 2020+ Defender uses an aluminum-intensive body (the "D7x" platform). Discovery and older Land Rovers vary in their use of aluminum and high-strength steel. Aluminum repair requires:
- Dedicated tooling, separate from steel work, to prevent galvanic cross-contamination
- Aluminum-specific welding wire and shielding gas
- A contamination-controlled workstation
- Aluminum-trained technicians who understand the heat distortion and work-hardening characteristics of the material
We have all of the above. Aluminum bodywork is one of our specialties.
Land Rover Models We Repair
- Defender (L663, 2020+). The new-generation Defender uses an aluminum unibody. We see fender flares, bumpers, rocker damage, and undercarriage hits from trail use, plus parking-lot damage from daily-driver use.
- Defender (older L316 / L319). Pre-2016 traditional ladder-frame Defender. Different repair procedures, body-on-frame construction with aluminum body panels.
- Discovery (LR4 / L319, L462). Mid-size SUV with aluminum body panels on the modern generations. Common rear-end and tailgate work.
- Discovery Sport. Compact SUV. Daily-driver damage patterns.
Off-Road Damage Is Routine for Us
Defender and Discovery owners take their vehicles into actual off-road terrain in the Antelope Valley and beyond, El Mirage, Jawbone Canyon, the Mojave, Joshua Tree. Trail damage that comes back to us:
- Cracked fender flares and trim from rock contact
- Dented bumpers and skid plates from terrain hits
- Rocker panel scrapes from dropoffs and ledges
- Undercarriage damage, suspension mounts, exhaust, skid plates, frame rails. More on undercarriage repair →
- Bent steering links and damaged tie rod ends
- Cracked headlight housings from limb contact
We restore the body without compromising the off-road capability the vehicles were built for. If you have aftermarket armor, rock sliders, or roof-rack systems, we work around them or remove and reinstall as needed.
ADAS and Terrain Response Calibration
Newer Land Rovers carry the same ADAS suite as any modern luxury vehicle: forward radar, lane-keep, blind-spot monitoring, surround-view cameras. Terrain Response (Land Rover's selectable terrain mode system) doesn't require body-shop recalibration, but the cameras and sensors that integrate with it do. We recalibrate to OEM spec after every applicable repair. More on ADAS calibration →
